““Thank you so much for everything. [Hazel] is doing great at home and we are working hard and trying to be as consistent as possible! “Place” has literally changed my life. It’s amazing just to be able to get dressed in the morning, cook dinner, etc. without chasing her around the house every 5 minutes! ”
+ Are we a good match?
If you are ready to make some lasting changes in your home and how you interact with your dog, if you're open to new ways of doing things and getting rid of old habits that aren't helpful for you or your dog and if you are ready to work hard to be the leader your dog needs, we are a great match :)
+ What makes your training different?
Simple put, our training methods work for long term results that leave you and your dog happy and healthy and super clear on what what's okay and what's not okay to do. We offer continuing education on all of our programs so we are in this dog training journey for the long-haul. When you train with us, you become part of the Finn Family for life.
+ Why E-Collar?
The truth is, yelling and being frustrated at your dog is never fun. And while a tool does not replace strong leadership, it can help communicate with your dog in a way that they understand and care about. Imagine speaking English to your dog that only speaks Chinese. The pressure from the e-collar on your dog's neck gives meaning to what we are asking them to do, i.e. stop chasing that rabbit and come to me. Modern low-level E-Collar training is the most effective, reliable, humane and transformational training tool available today. We use low-level communication, modern E-Collar training. All dogs are tested to determine their individual working level (the lowest level they can feel). Out of 100 levels, most dogs work at a 3-5, most humans cannot feel the collar until 15-20. While some trainers misuse the e-collar in training, we believe it is important that the dog is slowly introduced to the e-collar in a fair way AFTER a strong foundation of training is already established. When used humanely, the e-collar is an effective way to train anxious dogs, strong-willed dogs and every personality type in between.
+ I was told I need a board and train, do you offer that?
We no long offer board and trains simply because we found day training and private lessons to be just as, if not more, effective than a board and train. Bonus: You don't have to be away from your dog for 1-3 weeks. It's also important to us that owners feel empowered and not too overwhelmed so a bite-size learning structure works best for everyone, including the dog.
+ Will my dog's personality change after training?
Yes and no. Training will help get to the root of your dog's issue so you may see a calmer, happier side to your dog. In many cases, owners see a whole new, amazing side to their dog they didn't even know existed because the dog was too anxious to relax and let that side shine through. We still want dogs to be goofy, fun, and snuggly if that is their personality-we just want them to listen when they need to as well. All whole philosophy is let dogs be dogs, they just need to listen in order to stay safe and be trusted enough to go on adventures.
+ Is their a guarantee on your training? What happens if I don't see results from training with you?
Because we are working with a living animal and there are so many variables that go into accomplishing your training goals, it would be unethical to make a guarantee. But! Our services are results-based so we are working together until you and your dog have a solid understanding on how to communicate effectively and trust one another. Also, beacuse we only work with the most dedicated clients that are completly committed to seeing their dogs succeed and are willing to make some changes, even if they're tough changes, every dog we've worked with has improved drastically and enjoys a happier, calmer life filled with more adventures.
+ What does a typical Private Lesson session look like?
We want the owners to be involved in training as much as possible but understand that dogs intially do best in training away from their humans. So, the first half of the lesson is just the trainer and the dog working together and then the second half of the lesson, the owner is involved in learning how to be the dog's leader and implement training at home. Each lesson will build on the lesson from the week before.
